Moracea by Khao Lak Resort

A stunning hotel nestled on a hillside in the jungle, with a perfect private beach, plenty of great pools, bars, and a restaurant. The service at the hotel is wonderful! We stayed in a beachfront room, which required walking up stairs to reach the lobby, or you could simply call and they would come pick you up. The room was beautifully designed, very spacious, pampering, well-maintained, and had a comfortable bed with high-quality linens and towels. To get to the main street, it’s just a 5-minute taxi ride. Stunning sunsets, a great atmosphere—quiet and fun!

We liked everything!

The resort is situated next to the beach, on a steep hill, the views over the water are good, and the crashing waves near the houses and pools is very relaxing. The Bambu beach bar was a good experience, very nice staff and delicious cocktails.

I didn't like the reception. We didn't feel welcome at all. The staff didn't make any effort to accomodate us or provide a warm welcome to us. There was only 1 restaurant for breakfast and dinner, and the food was so so. I would not come back here, the resort, in my opinion, is a 3 star resort posing as a 5 star place. From the 10+ places I stayed in Khao Lak, this was the weakest one.

If we could give a 12, we would! We had the Orchid room at the beach. it was BEAUTIFUL! The colours, the intricate doors of the wardrobes, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was excellent. The toilet was separate, such a welcome relief compared to hotels that have open view on the toilet divided by a blind only(!). Both rooms were well spaced and the lay out was perfect! Sleeping in the evening while listening to the waves of the sea. So peaceful and wonderful! The people at the reception were very considerate and service minded.e.g. "Sir, if your pillow is too hard, please let us know and we bring you a softer one". I saw people being picked up at the restaurant and brought to their room while it rained cats and dogs. Nothing was too much! Each day each staffmember (I kid you not!) greeted us with a big smile that warmed our hearts. We had a great interaction with the restaurant staff and everyone included the pool guys and gardeners. We felt so welcome and happy because of the nice staff members! The hotel overall was well kept and cleanliness deserves a 10! The gardners even kept the beach clean! There are restaurants nearby (2 minutes walk) and our favorite was the Sabaidee jungle bar & restaurant with lovely food (cheap!) and the welcome eacht time was warm and sincere! With a tuktuk you can get into Khao Lak center where we went to the Tsunami museum. Simple but well explained and my partner felt emotional afterwards. There is a great Korean restaurant across from the Bang Niang market and we loved Delicacy!

No real serious negatives except that the blinds in the room were of grey fabric that made it a bit clumsy and dark. Personally I would place bamboo or wooden blinds so we can decide how much light comes in. We want to say something of keeping the beach clean, We don't think it is a responsibility of the staff of an hotel only. We think it is the responsibility of EVERYONE! So TOURISTS (YES YOU!) pick up the trash, like WE DID! All of us contribute to the pollution so we need to work together and clean it ourselves too. It is easy to complain about others but we buy and drink from the water bottles too and we all use plastic. So instead of putting the blame to the personnel of a hotel, do something about the trash yourselves. Being a tourist doesn't make you better or above everyone else. We are all one and the same. So if you complain about the trash on the beach, do something about it. You are just as responsible for it as anyone else.

This is a fantastic report! We weren't sure whether to pay more for the beach-front villas - in the end we chose one of the bungalows that are advertised as "a short stroll from the beach" but we were literally STEPS from the beach and had a sea view. It was a really gorgeous bungalow with a very comfortable bed - at low season prices it was really amazing value. The breakfast is also one of the best i've had in Thailand - so much variety and high quality. I live in Thailand and have stayed in thousands of hotels over the years, but this one is up there with my favourites due to the facilities and location on the beach. They even have shower rooms so you can stay on the beach after you've checked out and still take a shower.

Nothing! it's excellent!

Luckily we were in a breach front villa otherwise it's a trek to navigate the resort as it's built all over a steep hill.

Not really much if anything to fault it, being off season it's tremendous value for money.

Clean neat comfortable and friendly service

The tranquility of this location is amazing! On the edge of the National Park with all the bird life and butterflies while being total beachfront - we just love it! The staff are wonderful - no hard-sell.. they quietly leave you to relax and unwind the way you like to and at the same time keenly poised to help at any time. Breakfast never lets us down with a nice changing variety each day. No dim-sim dumplings this time but the belly size isn't complaining. Nice late 10.30 breakfast finish for the bleary-eyed. The renovated entertainment area is great with a well equipped gym, fancy change/shower/toilet facilities, a pool table room with AC and a café type seating area in front. Perfect for the moments the rain forest is.. well, raining. Apart from the on-site and in-room dining options the property is at the start of a 50km road zone with plenty of local restaurants etc. lined for 2km and more - or stroll along the beach for other options including massage. Plenty of swimming pools throughout the property or the very best swimming pool straight out front - the beach! We have made this resort our home for many years and hope you will do the same!

Limited non-thai t.v viewing options. However for tech savvy you can mirror from your phone/device so come prepared with preloaded movies or your own subscriptions.

Wunderschöne Anlage mit Dschungel Feeling. Frühstück ist sehr lecker und abwechslungsreich. Der Strand ist sehr schön und liegt direkt am Hotel. In 15 bis 20 Minuten Fußweg findet man Restaurants, Supermarkt und Bars.
